Looking for information on DFW since I haven't been there since before 9/11:

-upgrade possibilities(i'm flying PIT-DFW-PIT leaving on a saturday am(which happens to be valentines day) and returning the next day at 5:45pm)
-helpfullness of agents(are they as surly and nasty as IAH)
-security line(are they still in the b terminal?)
-food possibilities
-Do they still have the winery in the a terminal? if so, how can I get there?
-Since i'll be renting, where can I get gas on way back to airport. Also, there is a GIGANTIC mall on the way back to the airport. What is it called and where is it?
-Anything else you think I would need to know.
Thanks!

I can't help you with the US Airways specific questions as I don't fly US much but yes they are still in terminal B. The winery is in terminal A http://www.dfwairport.com/shops/detail/la_bodega.htm
You can walk to the Traain station by gate B6 or walk accross the access road using the elevated walkway between A and B. I believe the mall you are thinking of is Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall which is not far outside the North exit of the airport. http://www.grapevinemills.com/index2.html If you have a car, just head North and take Hwy 121 and exit Grapevine Mills Parkway. You can't miss it.

>>>Depends on your status, but you have a MUCH better shot on Sat/Sun than Mon/Fri. I've been flying PHL-DFW about 2-3 times per month since March and my upgrades (was Gold at the time) were 10% on Mon/Fri and nearly 80% any other day.

-helpfullness of agents(are they as surly and nasty as IAH)

>>>The US agents at DFW are friendly, happy, and VERY helpful. But they also know the rules very well, so don't think you'll get away with not paying a standby fee or something like that.

-security line(are they still in the b terminal?)

>>>This is the BEST PART about flying out of DFW on US -- no matter when I've gone through there, no matter the time or day, I've never ever ever had to wait more than 1 minute to go through security. If you check in via the web and don't have a bag, you could literally walk into the terminal 20 minutes before departure and still make your flight.

-food possibilities

>>>On the flight? Bring cash if you're in coach, otherwise it's the IFE "mini-meal" in F. In the terminal? Not much near the US gates, just an Au Bon Pain kiosk and an airport version of Chili's (reduced menu).

-Do they still have the winery in the a terminal? if so, how can I get there?

>>>No idea, sorry.

-Since i'll be renting, where can I get gas on way back to airport.

>>>There's a gas station conveniently located right on the road by the rental returns. If you're going to be driving a lot, consider buying the "return it empty" plan from your rental company, I've found that their per gallon price is usually about .20 lower than filling at the pump. If you're not going to use a full tank, though, it's a waste.

Also, there is a GIGANTIC mall on the way back to the airport. What is it called and where is it?

>>>No idea.

-Anything else you think I would need to know.

>>>All the car rental counters are at the same place, a separate building that's like a terminal all it's own. Hop on ANY car rental bus you see. It takes about 10 minutes to get there.

>>>Have some sopopilla's at Tia's Tex Mex in Arlington - YUMMMMM!

I fly this often since I live in PIT and headquartered in DFW.

#1 chance of upgrade are very good even if only a US3.
#2. agents there are like anywhere else. But if you go in with a smile you get smile back.
#3 security lines in B terminal move rather fast. And you do have 2 options near the US ticket counter to get through so you don't have to fear long waiting times.
#4 food is sold in coach and free in FC
#5 there is no winery in terminal B. I am not sure about any other terminals.
#6 there is a gas station on your return to the car rental center which is located at the southern end of the airport.
#7 Grapevine Mills mall is a huge mall located a few miles north of the airport. If you are driving on 635 you will see the exit for the mall. If you are going to the mall upon exiting the airport at the north end you just keep going straight out of the airport until you see the exit.

If you are returning your car from the northern airport entrance, stay to the right and use the service roads. This will help you avoid the toll booths at the north and south entrances to the airport.

I would suggest 121 south, 360 south, 183 east, then north into the airport. No traffic lights and no worries about accidentally entering a toll booth or an employee parking lot.

You could also do 114 south, 161 south, and exit west on Northgate Dr which turns into Rental Car Drive.
