Here is my dilema: I'm taking the family from Philly to Phoenix next June and USAir tickets are running around $450 and America West is charging a little over $400. I want to buy the tickets and use miles for upgrade but I'm afraid that if I can't find a roach fare it will be too late to use miles for the tickets rather than the upgrades. I suppose my question is the following: Is there a website out there that I can plug in my dates and it will give me a daily update on prices. I really don't want to have to log onto Orbitz every day! I really don't want to pay more than $350 per person but I would think the airlines would run some decent specials to a vacation destination.
BTW: Just in case anyone will suggest Southwest - forget it. I refuse to be hearded like cattle.

Dude, this is simple. Set up My Yahoo! as your web start page and add ABE-PHX, PHL-PHX, EWR-PHX, whatever to your faretracker. The fares aren't always up to the minute but it is a pretty good way to take the "pulse" of the market.

Well, who said that you need to fly WN in order to benefit from their presence at PHL? Next June is a while away....I'm sure that US will match WN fares sometime between today and next June on service to PHX....and if US doesn't want to match WN fares, you can bet that another major will match WN's fares from PHL to PHX, and that will really force US's hand to lower fares. Hang tight is my advice, or you might wind up kicking yourself later.

Wait until WN loades fares at PHL.
Sometime around March (April at the latest) Southwest will load fares into their systems for PHL. Will they fly to PHX direct? Maybe, maybe not. But it's very likely that their advance fare to PHX (which U will likely match) will be less than $450.
I'd wait until March, and then look for 6 weeks or so.

You may not have to wait until March. Southwest indicated they'd be announcing cities and fares from PHL in the next couple of months. I suspect they will announce this no later than the January schedule change, and when they do they'll extend their schedule out to June and that should cause US and others to match their fares.
While they may not start with non-stop service [and I would not be surprised if they did PHL-PHX non-stop as part of the launch], I would be very surprised if they did not publish a fare between PHL-PHX... and that should be sufficient to force US and others to match.
My guess would be, initially at least, $99 each way from PHL-PHX, plus taxes and junk fees.

I refuse to fly US, would rather be herded like cattle into a CLEAN plane.
