I just checked Virtually There to check on my status for an upgrade to Madrid next week. I am waitlisted for "supersonic" class. Woo hoo!

I'm assuming this is probably some kind of fare-code of wait-state code holdover from the BA partnership. You would think, after all this time, they would have at least renamed the field or changed the data description of that particular field value.

Maybe it's on "the programmer's" list.

Does anyone have photos of the luxury Dash-8 that AL/US flew for BA from DCA to JFK in connection with BA's Concorde service?

bosco,

Sadly, I have to report that US has decided to move it's only Concorde to a new destination. This magnificent aircraft will now be used for thrice daily round trips between PHL and Birmingham. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif In accordance with it's new role, the aircraft has been renamed the 'Brown Nose (tilted at times) Special'.

BAck when US and BA had their partnership - US took a dash 8 - gave it all leather seats - I think reduced the amount of seating (to increase pitch, etc.) and dedicated it to DCA-JFK to connect with Concorde. Champagne was served on the flight, and the service was supposed to be quite nice. Once the partnership ended, the plane was reconfigured and put back into normal service.

Hehehe! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif This is due to "Supersonic" class on Concorde being 'R'. US Airways is now using this class code for certain types of Transatlantic upgrades hence the system's confusion.

I was booked in Business Class on a flight from FRA to BRU on LH. My e-ticket confirmation said Supersonic. The flight was on an A320

I recently had a similar "Supersonic" situation when I was trying to book a business class fare to Europe on Orbitz.com! I had entered the route (SFO-FRA) and the best price for Business Class came back on BA with "Supersonic" class listed for the SFO-LHR portion. Price was only $1600 so I called BA to ask what "Supersonic" Class was. Turns out it was an Economy fare and they said they had heard of the "Supersonic" class description before and had told Orbitz they had a problem in their system.

Some of us have actually been in DCA's Concorde Departure Lounge. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I am at home sick, and I have to say this thread is the first time that I have laughed in days.
Of course, now my head hurts...

I'd imagine that now that Concorde has gone the way of the pterodactyl, we'll see R class opened as another Business or International first class code.

BA had repositioned R to be a discount economy fare but have since withdrawn.

What this means is that the inflight meal will be provided by Sonic Drive In vs. Vie de France or Einstein Brothers.
Tater Tots and Corn Dogs for $10 in Coach class...half size meals in First!

I heard recently that with new technology now available exclusively to US that all Dash-8s will now be supersonic.
