I need about 14,000 miles for CP this year. Ive been really striking out on low fares. I can probably take a Friday or Monday off and am free most weekends except the one after Thanksgiving. I could do 1 or 2 runs. Best I could come up with out of NY are 2 consecutive weekend runs to LHR on UA, crediting the miles to US. Any better Ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Take a run to South America on UA......it's warm there at least! It's about a 10K round trip too!

I am in awe of anyone that can stand to take an MR for a long time in coach. I take plenty of MR's but 99% upgraded, and therefore I usually must limit myself to domestic runs.

I think it's time for an Asia MR... Go out Thursday mid-day, and come back on Sunday or Monday.
JFK-NRT-SIN r/t is one option.

Hell, who said Im in coach. ;-) Most of the time I am upgraded as well. One problem with the UA runs is that I cant upgrade. Coach to LHR is not to bad. Coach from JFK to NRT is a little much although I did a trip in coach on AA from JFK to NRT and it really wasnt too bad. Problem is the 600ish fare I saw yesterday on UA to NRT is a 2800 ish fare. That is what I was planning for UA though. I wanted the double EQM on that. Still looking. As to US, I just bought a LGA-LGW through CLT and it is upgradeable. Around $400. I will certainly take that. Need a bit more but that is a big chunk of the 14000 miles I need. I was planning on taking the UA up to 125 K with the double miles. SInce Im at 46K now that is a bit of flying and I cant find any good fares to Asia today. What a goofy game we play.

You might to consider a FC run to LAS. With the $500 fares available, you should get the 50% status miles bonus for paid FC. More money, but less time than going to Asia or LON.

Not to mention the free watered-down drinks, the cheap eats, and the $ you save on a hotel if you go mid-week. And if you get lucky at the tables, you may even return with enough extra dough to finance another MR.

I may do both London and LAS. I was able to get a great (400ish) upgradeable fare for London. That is good for a big chunk of the miles. Vegas should do the rest and they have good fares there, thanks for that suggestion.
It will be interesting to compare first on a US to LAS to the AA flagship transcon I just got back from LAX on. I was in coach on that and I have to say I was extremely pleased by the service, food, etc. I acknowledge that the light load probably helped but it was an awfully pleasant flight in coach. It will be interesting to compare to US first.
