I fly often from Reagan National Airport (DCA) to Boston Logan Airport (BOS). Besides the obvious (purchasing early, flexible travel dates, flying out of Baltimore (BWI)), are there any other tips I should be aware of. I usually pay between $180-$220 for a round-trip ticket and I wish to pay less. Thanks in advance.

Hate to say it in this forum, but if you can fly out of BWI and into Manchester or Providence - possibly minor inconveniences at either end - you could do it on Southwest for as little as $100...

I would guess that US matches those fares as well. You could also look at PVD which I have flown into which is very inexpensive form BWI.
Amtrak is $81 one way (no tax) on the unreserved trains.
AirTran is $54+tax one way BWI-BOS non-stop. All you need is a 21 day advance purchase and seats in the T booking class.

This is getting even farther afield, but:
PHL-BOS RT on US (and AirTran, and practically everybody else too) is currently running $78+tax, 7 day advance and no stay requirement.
You can take Amtrak (unreserved) from WAS-PHL for around $40 each way IIRC.
So the total price for that option is around $170 or so.
As far as trip time is concerned, this option is substantially faster than taking Amtrak for the whole distance (especially since there is a 30-minute stop in NYC), and probably competitive with BWI-PVD, depending on where specifically you're coming from and where you're going. SEPTA has train service from ZFV (Philadelphia 30th Street Station) to PHL that runs every 30 minutes, takes about 20 minutes, and costs $5.50.
There are more esoteric options you could consider that involve buying several tickets and only using part of each of them, but I'll leave those up to you to figure out, since they're "against the rules".
