I joined the Club last week based on what I read in a flyer, that they would have WiFi in early 2004. I asked about it in Charlotte and everyone there seemed kind of lost when I mentioned it. Anyone here have any more definitive info on the details?
Cheers

Welcome to Flyertalk. They have sent out mailings saying they would be putting it in all the clubs soon. The timeline isnt terribly clear to me. I asked in PIT over the summer and they said they hoped the club there would have it by the end of the year. Dont know any more details.

Yeah, I read the same thing... "early 2004" for WiFi in the Clubs. In Dave Siegel's column in Attaché this month, he also says the LH codeshare will begin "in a few weeks."

the lh codeshare thing has a definite date, but i can't remember what it is; i've seen the same date a couple different places, in fact. october 26th comes to mind, but i'm not sure that's correct.
the bartender that's ALWAYS working in philadelphia's core us airways club (karin?) confirmed for me the other night that wifi should be up and running "in the next six months". for what that's worth.

They have it at the Red Carpet Room offered by T-mobile - for when you're on United.
Believe it was $7.95 for unlimited, and $9.95 for 24-hour unlimited. I remember the price b/c I kept thinking what was the difference.
By the way, when are they going to get rid of that "must have a UAL boarding pass" to access the RCR rule?

You mean with a US Club membership? Not likely anytime in the near future, imho.

Do you think US will charge for WiFi access in the club? I guess I can understand them trying to bleed their customers for every cent, but I guess I would have thought that might be covered under the Club Fee. I would think those in the Clubs are their best customers.
I try to limit most layovers for an hour or so max, so I cant see ever paying $7.95 and up for a short limit.

Both UA and AA currently do their clubs Wi-Fi through t-mobile. If you travel a bunch, they have $30 a month (year commitment) or $40 a month (month-to-month) service contracts.
If US gave it away, that would be pretty awesome - but I would bet they go with T-mobile as well.

In several UAL RCCs they only ask for a membership/*G card - usually at airports where there's only UA/LH/*A in the terminal, and where it would cause quite an inconvenience to go to RCC from a different terminal flying on a different airline

From my Lufthansa M&M magazine, october 26th is the start for code-shares LH-US (at least on part of Lufthansa), double miles for the first US flight taken by M&M members (go Europe, e.g. PIT?/CLT?-FRA, 4000 miles, business, on LH M&M silver/gold, total mileage earned 4000*2*2*2*1.25=40.000 (*2 double miles, *2 round trip, *2 business class, *1.25 tier bonus)
Gteting back to dates, It should be 26/oct, I think it is a reciprocal date.

You know, the funny thing about this is that I'm sure T-mobile would have done this months ago if US would have asked.
I would not be suprised in the least if they left it up to "the programmer" so that US can collect all the revenue, instead of sharing it with T-mobile.

They'll have a hard time collecting the $9.99 fee in PIT. The airport is now offering FREE WiFI in the terminal. I used it last week. The SSID is "FLYPITTSBURGH".
The hotspots are at the eating locations.
