View Full Version : Preferred Miles

I am a Silver DM and typically make a lot of short flights around the East Coast. Thus most of my flights mileage acrue 750 total miles per segment. It seems to me that in the past I used to get 750 Preferred Miles per segment also. My last 2 trips, I am only getting 500 Preferred Miles per segment. Is this new or am I mistaken in that I have always gotten 500 Preferred Miles. I tried to go through my old statements, but with the summer mileage bonus, I can't really figure it out.

Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if this has been asked before. Did a search but didn't find anything on it.

Cheers
Dean

500 preferred miles per flight is the correct amount.

Members earn a 50% mileage bonus for paid qualifying flights on US Airways, United, Caribbean Star Airlines and Caribbean Sun Airlines.

You should get 750. 500 since the flight is below 500 miles and 250 as your preferred bonus. Call the DMSC and inquire why you are not receiving the appropriate amount of miles - provided that you still have SP status.

Dean,

Unfortunately, the SP bonus miles are not preferred miles. This means that you are credited 500 preferred miles for your flight (the minimum accrual on all flights regardless of actual miles flight) with a SP bonus of 250 miles (50% of miles earned).

The way the miles are posted is confusing, perhaps intentionally so. Any ordinary bonus miles beyond those that give you the 500 mile minimum don't typically count towards status, even though all those extra miles are lumped together in the same line item.

Thanks for the repsonses. I will try and review some of my old paper statements and see what I used to get. I must have just read them wrong in the past.

I like how Delta's site lays out miles and MQM in seperate lines. Its very easy to figure out.
