Over the drama with USair! Has anyone been able to get top teir status by showing current status on another airline?
I am a CP, DL PM and UA EP...figure someone may want the business as it seems USAir does not..

HP will match your top tier status. I've taken them on past two trips and I've been very impressed. Free unlimited upgrades, all of which were confirmed when my window opened (no need to worry about disappearing "G" inventory). Free same day standby. Younger, friendlier, more energetic employees.

Its pretty easy, if you have a travel agent they can do it with more ease. Basically email the airline with your request. They will probably have you fax over some documents, and will give you status very quickly. However, I don't think any of the other airlines top tier levels are quite as good as CP. I know for a fact that Deltas sucks.

HP--will probably do it.

CO--used to do it. Times might be a changin', however, if you tell them you are pissed at US, they might.

AA--nope. Well, maybe if you can show that you fly like 200k/year on Y/B fares, and even then it's questionable.

UA--nope. You can bet they have a "no poaching" rule in place with US due to the codeshare.

NW--never thought or asked about it.

DL--who cares? Do you really want to play the LUSER game?

US, btw, has been comping CP this year with some regularity. This is a new practice, but hey--why not? Gotta replace all the victims, err, loyal flyers they have angered in the last two go-arounds....

When you fax a statement, do they question why there are so many bonuses?

Oh thats easy, just tell them that it shows just how much US values your business, and thats why they need to comp you to top tier status to entice you to leave US, given how well US treats it's best customers http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I called a few weeks ago to see if UA had an accelerated Gold (Prem Ex) program because I was planning several transatlantics in the upcoming months. Nope... but the fellow alluded to that they would match Prem Ex with US Gold or CP. I fear that they may stop this shortly given the code share. They do have a "no poach" policy with *A.

UA Gold would be nice since it is recognized as *Gold, which is the top tier for most *A carriers.

US comps Chairman's Preferred to anyone with similar status on another carrier. I know at least 5 people who have been comped a few days after faxing the service center. They've been enjoying the unlimited upgrades and generous mileage bonuses.
