Does anyone have any experience with the US Air promotion for Instant Starwood Gold for registering for direct deposit of your miles?

I'm not familiar with this offer, but I do have several Starwood Gold referrals left. You are welcome to one if you'd like.

If you can wait to accumulate 20K Starwood points and then transfer you'd make out better than direct deposit since 20K Starwood points transfer into 25K US Miles.
Plus there's the matter of improved liquidity of the Starwood points - they can be transferred elsewhere, but the US miles can only be US miles.
But the Gold level means that you accumulate 3 points per dollar instead of the 2 points per dollar earned with the base-level card.
I received the gold direct deposit card a day or two after registering for a regular card for an upcoming trip. After thinking it over I used the non-direct deposit card for the stay.
