Sorry to bring this up again, as I know it's been discussed several times before. But, has anyone had any recent experiences with this? I want to book a flight to the west coast and use (NOT abuse) two of these CS007s, which are about to expire. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif It would be nice to get the class of service bonus since it would put me over the top for CP for Getting Out More.

They are supposed to be booked into 'I' class, which is the same as F and rises and falls in direct proportion to F seats. My experience with these certs is that they have put me in I class, but I still got the class of service bonus.

I class should get class of service bonus, but when I used one of these last month I was put in F class (though that may be because I told the agent that's where they go, because I thought that is where they do go ...).

BTW, I'd actually recommend waiting until there are no G seats on your flight to book this to assure that the agent puts you in the right class of service ... that's what I did ...

Beckles, do you think that presents a risk of not getting the upgrade at all? Or is F/I nearly always there after G equals 0? (How's that for a cryptic sentence?)

F/I should always be available after G runs out, except within an hour or so of the flight maybe ...

I went out to Logan Airport in Boston to use a $75 voucher, and while I was there I presented the upgrade coupons to the woman...She really didn't know how to use them. I called reservations and later found out that she booked me into F (there were long lines and she did not have time to find out how to use them). Does this mean my certificates are still good for another trip? Or did the agent at Logan do something with the numbers on the certificate to void them? I believe I can just use the E-Ticket Checkin and it will print out boarding passes in F, right?

If she booked you in F, you may be OK, but I would still bring the coupons just in case.
Shouldn't you be in school, young man? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The way it's supposed to work is they're supposed to put in what type of certs you used to upgrade in the comments and then the check in agent should look at this and collect the correct certs ...
Of course, the way it's supposed to work and the way it does work are two different things.
If you intend on trying to get out of the agent collecting your certs (and presumably then using them again in the future), don't post it here, all you are going to do is draw the ire of honest US FF's who have been complaining about this exact type of abuse of upgrade certs.

Im not saying that I would do this, but it just seems too easy...has there been a history of this? If so, how do you know about it? It is not like people would flaunt it.

Anecdotal evidence mostly ... someone here once said a US agent told them they investigated one guy who was holding 24 trips in FC with CS007's, just as an example. It is also generally believed this is why the changed the rules on the SWU's to be time restricted, because of abuse.

I just called and redeemed a CS0007 for a flight coming up in 6 weeks. I'm CP, but the flight - US#12 LAX-PHL - was showing F2 I1 G0 this far in advance! K and V were also zero'd, so it may be a busy flight, or yield management is monkeying around with this flight(The F/I/G numbers are similar on every Sunday in October for this specific flight)
Well, after the agent upgraded me, I checked ITN and it showed F1 I0 G0. So, what does this mean? Did my seat come out of F or I?? Both of those buckets went down by one after my redemption. I'm thinking it came out of F.

I think it's pretty safe to see yield management never "monkeys" with the F fare class (they will monkey with the other FC fare codes though), so something funny is definitely up ... I think it's more likely to abuse of CS007's and SWU's or maybe someone buying a bunch of FC seats for some reason (and maybe in the end they may not get used ...).
Have you looked at a seat map for the flights to see if all the seats are actually assigned?

I was told by a Chairman's agent yesterday that these are booked in F class. Never actually used one, but this is what she said.

When I have used a CS007 in the past, I was unable to use the kiosk, always needed to check in with an agent to present the coupon (this was before and after being a CP).

CS0007 are always to be booked in -F- class. I catch this error alot and report it everytime. Find them in both -G- and -I- .

Sorry for a really dull question - - but as a 10 year perf gold... I don't know what a CS007 is, and more importantly, how you get one. Can you guys post a 1 liner.
Thanks!

APD --
It is the code name given for a Customer Service (CS) voucher (#0007)that is issued as goodwill (generally) following some exceptionally bad service or incident. It allows the pax to call anytime in advance and upgrade a domestic reservation to F one way. Hard to come by and certainly not blanket-mailed out to anyone.

Well, after much persistence, I finally got these upgrades confirmed in "F". To try my best to be sure these would go in properly, I phoned reservations and said, "I have a question for you about an upgrade certificate that I have. The Star Code is CS007. Could you tell me which fare class bucket these are upgraded to? Are the F, A, I, or G?"
I had to call about seven times before I got someone who said, "Those type of upgrades always come out of the "F" class". I was starting to get worried after six calls and six reps telling me that "It depends on what fare you're upgrading--unrestricted fares go into 'I' and restricted fares go into 'G'"--especially since "G" on one of the flights was at "0". http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif But, when I finally got the correct answer, I continued, "Okay--would you please check to see if my flights are available for upgrading using these coupons?"
Anyway, this seemed to work. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif After booking the upgrade, I checked and saw one flight go from F6 I5 A2 G0 to F5 I5 A2 G0. The return remained unchanged in everything but G, which decreased by one. But F, I, and A were all at 7 on that flight, so I'm assuming that F, I, and A, still have more than 7 seats even after I upgraded. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Just upgraded an LAX-PHL segment on a 767. ITN showed F7 I7 G3, and it's 3 weeks out. So, why not. My CS0007 expires soon, and I'll get the class of service bonus towards tier, as well as the PHL Get Out More bonus. And, being an F designation should get me the triple bonus, right??
The CP Liason said that these definitely come out of F.
After booking, ITN still showed F7 I7 G3, which probably means there were still a fair amount of the 24 F seats available.

In the past, the 'F' class of service from the CS007 hasnt helped with 'incremental' (eg double/triple) bonuses. Somehow the computer still sees purchased class and designates based on that.

I can confirm that your class of service bonus does not "Get Out More" when using a CS0007. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Beckles - I wasnt referring to getting the '50% F' bonus doubled (eg 750 instead of 500). I was referring to, say, the current PHL bonus that gives triple for F/Y/B/M fares and double for all others. In my experience, buying a V/Q/H/K ticket and upgrading to F with a CS007 still only gets double miles.
