I just booked an award trip for a friend of my dad's next weekend PHL-LAX-MEL on Qantas an emergency trip so we were very glad to get the seats and save him $1000s of dollars on a last minute ticket...
Anyway, the weirdest thing happened -- I called the international award desk last weekend to have the tickets issued and sent by courier as he doesn't live near me and I needed time to receive the tickets and then send them over to him... so I waited two days, the tickets never came, so I called back and the int'l award agent told me that the ticket was set up but never issued ("no cert. was pulled" for the award). So she apologized and supposedly set it up again for courier delivery, I waited again two days, and still, the ticket never came. So today I called back to check on the ticket, and the agent again told me the cert still wasn't pulled, and that there seemed to be a computer glitch of some sort. Anyway, after nearly an hour on the phone w/a supervisor, she got the cert. issued and agreed to let me ticket the reservation at SFO where I'm flying out of tonight because of the inconvenience so I'd have time to get the ticket to him. So anyway, I now have the ticket in hand. But it's a little weird, eh? Has anyone else ever had this problem with an award reservation?
Of course, paranoid that I am, I imagined all sorts of scenarios where they'd locked my account because I was just getting out too much.
