View Full Version : US #12 LAX-PHL F/I/G nearly 0 every Sunday in Oct??!

I'm on US #12 on 10/27. I started peeking at the seating, and for a few days F, I and G were all ZERO. K and V are also 0, so there must have been a fair amount of discount tickets sold.

Thinking this was odd, I thought I'd check other days with this flight. Everything looked normal with the exception of each Sunday in October. That flight #12 from LAX-PHL has either no F/I/G inventory, or very little (like F2 I1 G0).

Then, just now I checked my date and saw F2 I1 G0, so I figured it'd be best to waste one of my CS0007's. I called and the agent promptly moved me to 3D. ITN now shows F1 I0 G0.

My point in a number of earlier posts. They can easily restrict access without resorting to the draconian requalification limits they tried to impose.

US20s at work. I'm connecting in CLT twice in the next month, since everything but the really late flight PIT-SFO was G0, more than 3 weeks out (granted, it is a friday flight).

Actually, I believe it is due to the reduction of 2 nonstop flights from LAX-PHL.
US64 and US30. If there were passengers already holding First Class DM awards, or had upgraded using miles on the discontinued flights they were reacommadated onto the remaining nonstops .

But these are in October - I thought the new schedules don't go into effect until November. And, it's just on Sundays that I saw the trend. I've seen stranger things....

Actually, they've already started adjusting the schedule effective in October (perhaps a function of returning and parking certain planes). My planned flights to Denver for a conference in mid-October (around the 19th) got all switched around as they cancelled the midafternoon flight from Charlotte, and the late afternoon flight to Pittsburgh. So, they've started a little early.

The changes are definitely in effect before November ... they'll be finished by November, but start much sooner ...

BTW, I'm sure I probably don't have to tell most of you this, but if your schedule is changed, it can actually be a good thing, it allows you to get switched to whatever flight you want, within reason. For instance I had a ticket CLT-LAS-CLT for October that I had routed through PIT both ways because it was cheaper than non-stops, but because of the schedule change I'm now able to fly on a direct flight there (at a much more convenient time even!), even though US had originally kept my routing through Pittsburgh after the schedule change. On another ticket I was able to change my return date with no problem because I had originally been booked on the last flight out, and under the new schedule the last flight out was several hours earlier and they switched me to the next day with no problem, so these schedule changes can be a good thing for "optimizing" your tickets already booked, don't be afraid to ask to be reaccomodated on different flights than US originally suggests!

Right you are Beckles.....the first reacommadation is done by some computer that trys to match your originally scheduled departure to the nearest flight . Sometimes that will go way back, when there might be a flight leaving an hour later than what you had. So when calling back in , give the agent a few minutes to look things over so they can get an idea of the changes first and if most are like me, they will look at availability before reading off the new reacomadation.

I had this happen on a different PHL-LAX itenerary in late Oct.

I was booked PHL-LAX at 940am. They moved me back to the 655am, even though there was a new 955am. I decided to keep the earlier one.

Beckles, I'll do one better. I have an upcoming trip from BOS to LIT. To get the cheapest possible fare, I'm routed BOS-CLT-MSY-LIT and back the same way. The schedule was changed and my new routing is BOS-CLT-LIT and back. I'm saving a connection each direction and on top of that, the fare dropped over $200+!!

My Thankgiving itinerary didn't change much in flight times but the aircraft types were swapped (to/from SEA) from a 757 to A319s. So I lost my seat assignments but was able to get that taken care of on-line (since I booked through Expedia).
