I heard if you email Ben Baldanza, and ask very politely, he will comp you.

Also, if you fly 100 segments or 100K preferred miles, USair will comp you as well.

First off, welcome to our corner of the world.

I think the answer is we don't know why US does it (comping to CP), just that they have done it on occasion for reasons unknown, and that those who have earned CP the hard way are not happy that it's being done. All we can suggest is that you contact the Dividend Miles Service Center (check the www.usairways.com (http://www.usairways.com) website for the contact number) and ask them what's necessary for the comp (most likely faxing elite statements, a copy of your card, etc.). Past experience has suggested that you'll at least get a comp to Gold Preferred - if you get a comp to CP - I for one will be surprised.

I apologize for all of my "nonsense." I guess your question just irked me a bit. When myself (and lots of others on the board) are flying like crazy and getting out more and spending lots of $$$ to try and finally get to CP, it's hard to see someone come out of the blue and ask for it. That's all. Now I know how the "real" CP's feel about me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Visit you at school? How 'bout instead I'll visit one of your ebay auctions:

...although, on second thought, the "rip-off" complaints have started to come in-- is that why you switched from selling fake watches to selling fake tickets??

Gentlemen, if you're going to start a flame war, might I suggest that you wait until October, when the dry season is over?

GOOD LUCK!

As part of my company's continually changing travel policies, I'm finding myself booked on US metal several times in the next few weeks. When I inquired about a status comp, I was told "NO WAY" and "WE CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE" by multiple reps. I know my company only spends ~$30,000 a month on travel, but I figured that US would fight to ATTRACT new business travelers and score a share of that $$$. (especially in these trying financial times) Oh well, I guess I'll just have to work the travel dept to book me on AA or CO instead.

Well, you're not giving US a chance then. After all, if you're flying on non-discounted fares - you'll get in close range of Silver real quick, assuming you upgrade on your flights. Plus, don't forget about the various challenges out there for both Silver and Gold Preferred. The challenge would be the way to go if you're not flying on full fares.

Have you tried just faxing a letter with print-outs of your statements from other airlines to US at 1-336-661-8448, explain why you want a comp (you're moving your busines too them, yada yada yada) and I always recommend asking what level you want (since you have mid-tier on your other airlines, that's probably what I'd ask for on US, don't be greedy unless you can really support what you're asking for).

That will typically work for most folks ...

Huh?

What's upgrading got to do with it?

All that matters is that you fly on paid tickets. If you happen to have a full fare Y or F ticket you get a 50% class of service tier miles bonus. Of course you also get to pay 8x more than a V or K but if that's what you want to do U will love you.

You can also get 100% tier miles bonuses if you are targetted for the "Get Out More" promotion (see the bonus code thread for details).

Upgrading off of full fare tix to get class of service bonus is what I was referrring to. I don't think you get a Class of Service bonus off of a full Y if you don't upgrade. You do get a class of serice bonus for an A class ticket I think. And of course, class of service will count for challenges and upgrade counter.
