Oh my God....the saliva is forming. Could this be combinable with Get out more?

Stillontheroad, does it mention this?

But, I'm telling ya, this is getting TOO good, if you know what I mean.

Wonder if this was a CLE-targeted promo...especially since every PHL flight is now either a CRJ or ERJ which is almost always delayed. I was on the last PHL-CLE Monday night and there wasn't even an aircraft at the gate at departure time. The board still read "on time".

Looking at the terms on the webpage provided above:

Offer only valid for addressee. Not valid with any other flight bonus mile offers. Offer valid with the purchase of published fares on US Airways and the US Airways Express carriers. All Dividend Miles terms and conditions apply.

FWIW, the missing 'Y' is a typo in stillontheroad's post. I signed up, re-read his post, and went back to US and looked again...

Maybe that UK trip will come through this fall...

Does this work if you are connecting through PHL?

Myself and five co-workers all received the postcard today. The code is exactly the same on each card (I checked before I posted to ensure that they would not block out non-targeted persons)

Did not say whether connecting in PHL would count.

Of course, the biggest fear is that by registering for this, it will somehow "cancel out" the get out more bonus.

There is a similar PHL bonus running now. Informed sources tell me that it works for connections as well as in conjunction with "get out more"...

Keep in mind -- U owes EDS $70MM right now. The chances of the software being modifed are low...

nawlinsdoc-

You're right- what was I thinking? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I still follow the mantra of signing up for everything and then getting some bonus no matter what. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Signing up now....

I think saliva formation should only occur for preferred status miles.

If worried about cancelling each other out, do what most of us do and avoid PHL.

The bonus miles from this promo DO count towards preferred status.

From the promo page:
Earn Triple Miles on every flight flown to or from Philadelphia in First Class, Envoy ClassŪ or select Coach Class fares (F, A, J, C, Y, B or M fare classes)

Plus, earn Double Miles on every flight flown to or from Philadelphia on other Coach Class fares

On any fare, Bonus Miles will count toward earning Preferred status

These bonuses just keep getting better and better... I kinda expected a systemwide double base miles promotion, though. Anybody else notice how preferred status is given out more freely now? My family all did a silver challenge in July 02 and just received their membership cards - all through 02/2004. Talk about a good deal...

I'm starting to be bothered by this... I'm willing to bet that it really will be possible to go from 0 to CP in a single mileage run this fall.

Bonus miles are great -- the more the merrier and spread them around! But tier miles ought to be just a little more sacred... Tagging every bonus as a tier miles bonus is not a good thing. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

There has to be some sort of business decision being made about this. Granted, there's only those of us in FT who are probably aware of all the possibilities regarding the Get Out More and others, if you know what I mean by "all the possibilities."

Perhaps by getting DM members up to Silver with relative ease, they're hoping to build a larger clientele of infrequent travelers who will begin choosing US by choice, rather than convenience.

Maybe.

I hope that's how it works out. You're probably right that "only those of us on FT" know -- and hopefully the proportion of lurkers is low http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

All these promos mean only one thing: US is DESPERATE for cash. They're giving away all of these preferred miles just to get us to buy a ticket (almost any ticket) now. Their final approach to bankruptcy was obvious when these promos suddenly appeared this summer. I've certainly taken advantage and am considering more, because we shouldn't expect this kind of generosity to last.

They've got an odd way of targeting them -- there are 5 DM members in my household. 4 of them have had precisely the same flight patterns for years now. One got a "Nextel" offer. (She gets all the phone related stuff for some reason -- this should worry me but she's only 5 so I still have time...) Another got a "Get Out". Two got nothing. They've apparently figured out that I don't need any extra incentives to buy tickets so I never get anything...

Yesterday, when I went to get the mail there was a postcard from US and I thought-yes--finally targeted and there was the PHL triple miles offer. Then I saw it was addressed to my son. Nada for me except what I am able to scavenge on the board to which I am grateful.

I'm not convinced that there are all that many more promos now than is normally the case. I have only been targeted for one--Get Out More. Remember, we see the universe here.

The one marketing difference seems to be the Preferred Mile emphasis. Since this is meaningless to the average flyer, they are probably intended to activate dormant frequent flyers who are keenly aware of the value of tier miles.

Watch out!
I registered for the previous PHL promotion, flew FCO-PHL-LGA in july and got the following.

US AIRWAYS 3 H FCO-PHL 4,372 4,372 8,744

GET OUT MORE PREFERRED MILES 0 4,372 4,372

PHILADELPHIA BONUS 0 4,372 4,372

GET OUT MORE PREFERRED MILES 0 4,372 4,372

Looks like I am getting the Philly bonus, but not the PHL-LGA segment.
I don't think I will call US to complain, but I would be upset if I had lost the other segment!

Ciao,

TP

If that's from July, you're looking at the "old" Philly bonus I think, which was not Preferred Miles ...

Yes, it was the old Philly bonus. I hope that the new one will not cancel segments...
