I'm in a quandary over the round-trip Europe promotion. I can get a coach fare for about $500 (give or take) and get the usual 6-7k miles (PHL-CDG)for Thanksgiving weekend. OR . . . I can pay $1050.00 for a B fare and get the usual complement of miles plus an additional 10K. My question is, does anyone think it is worth it to pay the additional $500 to get approximately one and a half times the miles on top of the miles I'm already getting?

For that additional $500 I can probably get another round trip ticket for a PHL-FRA roundtrip in December (with January return, so I'm probably not eligible for the promotion on that trip).

Any thoughts will be appreciated!

It is absolutely not worth an extra $500 to get 10,000 bonus miles.

I am curious . . . why? I am somewhat new to the miles collection business.

Read through many of the items on this board. You'll find many ways to earn 10,000 miles for a lot less money.

Typically it's not worth it to pay $500 to earn 10,000 extra miles ... most folks would only value 10,000 miles at $200 or so for one thing ... $500 is a big stretch.

HOWEVER, if you have no status on US but are thinking of upgrading with miles, it would definitely be worth it for you to pay the extra money since it would greatly improve your chances of securing the upgrade ... even if you do have status, by paying the extra money you could use SWU's on the trip any time in advance on a B fare.
