I made CP for 2002 and I have many, many Upgrade Certs. leftover from Gold that I won't be able to use and that will expire this year. Does anyone know if I can turn them back in for miles? If not any suggestions for their use?

UpgradeMe, thanks for the reply, I have 4K worth of unexpired certs. to turn in and I have 4K of expired which I'll also try to turn in and see what they do with them if anything.

One thing to keep in mind - will you requalify for CP next year? If not, you'll need some upgrade certs starting Mar 2003 again.

Dont forget that you can either turn in for 500 miles each OR have them reissued with another year until expiration. That's helpful in such cases:

I made CP-lite for the first time last year, and got tons of paper certs that I dont need this year. But I likely will not requalify for CP (even though I did 31k in Jan and Feb). I have a stack of Oct-Nov 2002 expiring NAUs that I plan to send in for reissue to expire in Oct/Nov 2003.

Too bad they don't reissue the SWU. I never got to use mine last year and they expire 7/31. At least the 500 miles beats nothing, but not as good as using the upgrade.

I'm in the same situation as you, but I did send my certs in. Got about 15k miles for them too! But I wasn't thinking ahead about next year as I'll be back to gold, too. It's a good suggestion you make.

If you still have your SWUs from last year, can you still send them in for miles?

Also, how closely do they check the expiration dates at the gates?
