Does anyone know the class of service in which US issues tickets booked through cruise lines (and as a result, upgradable or not)?

I always thought that any "purchased" ticket could be upgraded...

I'm not sure if they're issued out of a paid bucket or out of the same bucket as FF-type tickets. And if they're a paid bucket, are they "upgrade anytime" or subject to the 7-3-1 window?

I'll find out in a day or two once my travel agent has everything squared away; once that happens I'll post the answer.

From the USAirways web site, the answer is yes.

"Effective January 15, 2002, fare classes will be used to determine upgrade eligibility. These new guidelines apply to all Dividend Miles upgrades, including 800-mile North American upgrades (DMUP01), Systemwide upgrades (DMUPSYS), Chairman's Preferred unlimited upgrades and Upgrade Awards. This means that certain fares such as cruise fares, US Airways Vacations fares or Golden Opportunities Coupon Books can be used with upgrades."

Back in Feb., my wife and I went on a cruise and got those fares upgraded to First (I did use a SWU). Apparently, the new policy had just gone into effect. There were also a lot of spaces available in first - coach was full but only 3 of about 16 First class seats were full.
