View Full Version : Ducks in a Row?

I thought US had to have all it's ducks in a row, including the alliance, to submit the loan request to the transportation department by 6/28. The date came and went without any official announcement from US. Is this anything we should be concerned about?

The Board is scheduled to meet on Monday July 1st. At that meeting, they will review where they stand as far as consessions from labor groups. If they think they can get enough from labor to make a good argument to their creditors AND get the ATSB loan, US will continue as a stand alone carrier (with pending codeshare announcement coming).

If it does not look like they will get enough consessions from the labor groups, I give US a 50% of filing BK by the end of the summer....

Either way, I'm not worried about my miles...

The end of the summer? Try the end of the week ... if they don't get the deals from labor (which I honestly don't think will happen, US needs labor to give up too much), there's no reason to put off declaring bankruptcy because it only delays the inevitable at that point. They'll declare bankruptcy immediately and get on with restructuring and trying to fix things.

Regardless, I'm not worried about my miles either ... of course I only have 10,000 right now with all the awards I've cashed in lately, so I'm not really one to talk. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Brattflyer, hello neighbor.

US filed a preliminary application in early June and a formal one a bit later in the month. They continued to update the formal application through 6/28. The government confirmed back to US that they had received a completed application.

Additionally, US continues to negotiate deals with everyone in sight to improve the chances of the application being approved and as a general means of keeping their heads above water.

Well, Beckles, let's just say you and I think alike. I'm not worried about my miles either but I am holding a couple of 'big mileage' awards right now for future flights that could easily be flown or redeposited for a nominal fee. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
