I was driving past PHL yesterday and noticed cars using the new roadways. Then I tuned into 1060AM(local news) and they were running a report about how they just opened.

So, later on my way back past the airport heading North on I-95, I decided to give the new ramps a try.....

Coming from the South, you no longer have to get off at Rt. 291 and go through a few lights, pass the International Plaza buildings, and mix in with the airport return traffic.

Now, you continue up I-95 another mile or so and take the new ramp. But, it's a LOT of concrete wasted. See, that ramp actually makes you think you're passing the airport on your right before it loops you into a 180 over I-95 and joins the ramp of people getting on from I-95 South. The signage is good with plenty of time and spacing between terminal signs well in advance. You eventually are heading South again, and do yet another 180 and head for the terminals.

The coolest part is when you finally make your way back around and approach the Intl. Terminal, you are literally within feet of the closest gate to the roadway (all the gates have jetways attached now, by the way...). I can't wait to pull up in a few months and stare up at an A330!

The radio news report said terminal should open "at the end of this year", which is in line with the earlier threads that the opening was pushed back to December.
