I'll be flying SEA-CLT-MC)-PHL-SEA in a few weeks. FC for upgrades are available for all but the SEA-CLT sector. My fare doesn't allow oneway mileage upgrades so:

Should I upgrade the other 3 sectors with miles and take a standby risk on the 1st sector, or just hope that there are upgrades when the NAU/SWU window opens? It's an A321 flight on a Saturday late morning.

Other flights look good (G7) (CLT-MCO is late on a Saturday, MCO-PHL Mondau midafternoon on a 757 or A321, but connecting PHL-SEA is midevening on a A319.

I'd hold out and use the Gold 3 day window for all your flights. Even a Monday evening PHL-SEA A319 should clear for a Gold... that's your only real worry. IF you have the miles to burn, toss in the 20k and upgrade the whole thing and waitlist those flights that don't clear. I think you should be fine.
