US Airways affiliate Shuttle America to relocate
An aircraft maintenance base scheduled to close at Fort Wayne (Ind.) International Airport this August has found new life. Shuttle America, a feeder airline for US Airways, announced that it will relocate its headquarters there from Windsor Locks, Conn. After expecting to lose 50 jobs at the airport, Fort Wayne now expects the regional carrier to hire 104 employees there by 2003, and up to 174 within three years. Shuttle America expects to move into its new home by Sept. 1, and on July 7 will begin service from Fort Wayne to US Airways' Pittsburgh hub. Buoyed by a $751,000 incentive package, Fort Wayne beat out New Haven, Conn., and Bedford, Mass., for the Shuttle America headquarters.
