Nasty spat between US and CO leading to very cheap summer SEA leisure airfares. Seems like you need to depart by Aug. 3, and some days are a few dollars more. If you want the CO miles, you have to go down to PHL for the flight and it will cost you $161 roundtrip.
I doubt it will exist for more than a few more hours.

Hmm, this doesn't sound like the way 2 future alliance partners should behave ;-)

Just sending a message as to how it could be if they went in another direction. My guess is Gordo is a little annoyed with his former pupil.

CLE-LAX/SAN/SEA/SNA $98 RT on US. Other very good deals to be had also!

HOLY S**t. There is a war.

EWR-SEA $135 round trip on Orbitz. Priced 7/26-7/28.

EWR-SEA as low as $98 RT + taxes on Usairways.com

The Oregan Beer festival is screaming at us to come. Too bad it will cost me $300 to to get to EWR.

Lowest EWR-SEA on usairways.com is down to $93+tax R/T... and have a look at the lenghty minimum stay rules:

MIN STAY:
IF TRAVEL FROM THE POINT OF ORIGIN COMMENCES ON/BEFORE 29JUN02, THEN RETURN TRVL IS VALID ON THE 1ST SUN AFTER 12:01 A.M.. MEASURED FROM DPTR FROM ORIGIN TO DPTR FROM THE FARTHEST GEOGRAPHICAL POINT. IF TRAVEL FROM THE POINT OF ORIGIN COMMENCES BETWEEN 30JUN AND 3JUL02, THEN RETURN TRVL IS VALID ON THE 1ST THU AFTER 12:01 A.M.. MEASURED FROM DPTR FROM ORIGIN TO DPTR FROM THE FARTHEST GEOGRAPHICAL POINT. IF TRAVEL FROM THE POINT OF ORIGIN COMMENCES BETWEEN 4JUL AND 5JUL02, THEN NO RESTRICTIONS APPLY. IF TRAVEL FROM THE POINT OF ORIGIN COMMENCES ON/AFTER 6JUL02, THEN RETURN TRVL IS VALID ON THE 1ST SUN AFTER 12:01 A.M.. MEASURED FROM DPTR FROM ORIGIN TO DPTR FROM THE FARTHEST GEOGRAPHICAL POINT.

If only I were in the US on July 4, would be time for a run to SEA (note that the fare rules prohibit a Friday departure, so the 4th is the only departure date with no minimum stay.) Hope somebody can take advantage of this!

Edited to add: The same $93 fare will take you to SNA or SAN as well. Get it while it lasts!

In other words...a sat night stay is required if you depart before or after Jul 4th....if you depart on the 4th, that's treated like a saturday since it is a holiday. We've done this before, I just don't know why it can't be written that way.

This whole thing is stupid. While I understand the concept of shopping around for the best deal, U needs to decide which alliance it wants to be in and stop leading people on. I'm sure this fare war with CO is the result of that. I was on a CO flight a couple weeks ago and sat next to a CO pilot whose wife worked in the OnePass ServiceCenter and he was telling me that the US/CO/NW alliance was as good as a done deal. He indicated that the programmers at all three airlines were working around the clock to syncranize programs to make this thing a reality in short order. Then, USA Today announces that US is (still) talking to United!? I don't blame Gordon. At this rate, U will definitely be out of business if they keep this up!
