I tried to get an award ticket to Shanghai but the US international desk agent could not find any award ticket available either Business or Coach. I have asked the agent to check every day from June to January next year.

Has anyone ever successfully redeemed a NW award ticket to Asia using US DM miles?

I had the same problem. Many months back I tried to find a business class seat to Taipei and she found some, but I didn't know the exact dates (I was jsut trying to see what the connections would be like). Then I called recently with more set dates and she could find NOTHING on NW going to any city, not even NRT. She thought there was a glitch. Anyone else know what's going on?

I had redeemed US miles for an award ticket on NW to BKK in WBC several years ago. NW actually ended up comping me Gold as a result. Recently, however, NW award seats in WBC is very hard to come by. Coach seats are more available. You may want to use http://usr.v7.com/wpaa/ to find out availability and then call US to try to get the award.

Thanks, peteropny for the website info. It is very useful. It looks like my situation is not because NW didn't allocate enough award seats to US, but NW didn't have enough award seats for its own frequent flyers either.

One other note - WBC award seats are often gone almost as soon as they become available. I virtually have a standing reservation for an award trip to BKK every Feb.
