My account shows Year To Date Preferred Miles at 227,621. I fly a lot, but not THAT much.

Are they carrying over 01 (I heard rumors a few months ago) like Marriott did? I don't believe any of the bonus programs affect tier mileage.

CP Rich:

Once you hit 100K miles/100 segments in 2001, US took those miles and counted them into 2002's balance. So, every mile you flew over the qualification level actually counts toward your 2003 status. Looks like you made it!

If you need to unload some of those tier miles, I'll bet a few here will happily take the weight off your shoulders! :-)

There's more detail here:

I'm at a mere 99,111 tier miles for the year -- and I thought I was doing well :-(

Some do. Sometimes a promotion gives double tier miles for certain classes of tickets and ordinary bonuses for others. If you've been buying lots of F, Y & B fares that might explain it. There have been some very lucrative versions of this for trans-atlantic routes.

The DM Platinum Visa has also been running a double tier miles promotion for tickets bought with the card which, I believe, just ended 4/30.
