I have been on the waitlist for about 2 months for an upcoming trip with a SWU. I have not yet cleared the list and have a feeling that I won't. Is it possible to call during my 3 day window as a gold to switch from a SWU to the North American upgrade coupon?

Would that make a difference? Granted, I'm the worst one here in terms of assimilating these rules, but when I was Gold, I had several instances of booking a res saying I would be using an SWU because I was out of NAUs and wasn't sure if my next batch would arrive before I traveled .. more NAUs came in the mail, and I used them instead at checkin and saved my SWU...

Call at your 3 day window and tell the agent you would like to upgrade using the NAU's. Should not be a problem... if you can get the upgrade, they will note that you specified NAU's.

Are you saying that, even 2 months ago, there were no upgradeable seats on your flight that an SWU couldn't snag for you??

What's ITN tell you the 'G' inventory is?

Is this a domestic or international flight? This would be a little unusual for a domestic flight (until recently) but par for the course for an international flight. Since you did it in advance, I assume it is an old SWU (DMUPSYS).

Note: 3 of us are going to LGW in Oct and have already upgraded. Our domestic flights now show G1 - 737's and we are the only ones on the seat maps. My point is that some domestic flights can get to G0 very early.
