I'd recommend y'all make it clear to the agent you want USZ922 for 15,000 miles. I've had SEVERAL agents set me up on a 25k award (obviously not using the USZ917 I had mentioned for the mid-FEB to end-of-MAR promotion from/to LGA/IAD/DCA/BOS/SEA); luckily I caught it before ticketing (by double-checking on the mileage to be withdrawn).

This "deal" may not be so great after all. The fine print states that taxes and fees are NOT included as part of the award. Thus, one may spend real $$$ for what is normally included in the 25K award tickets.

Not sure, but aren't there always taxes and fees on international awards (YYZ), and also all awards now have the security fee that is not included ($2.50 each segment, up to $10/ticket), so I'm not sure there is a difference between this and the standard 25k award.

The YYZ Airport Improvement Fee (AIF) of CAD$10 is added on to each ticket. This is in addition to the US Immigration fee. It all usually works out to around CAD$20 (USD$12.50) plus the security fee.

Perhaps I misunderstand, but if there are always fees, doesn't that mean there *is* a difference (of 10k DM) between this offer and the normal 25k award? tls

I meant there is no difference between the 15k discounted award and standard 25k award fee wise.

It's just the $2.50 segment tax bs - no different than you'd have to pay for the 25k, so it is a good deal.

YYZ would also have a transborder tax, if i remember the total I've seen for a Canadian Award is about $6.00 - $8.00 in addition to the $2.50 security fee.

Well of course int'l fees will be added, but that's the case with any award that I know of with any airline.
