First time here. I am about to book a F
award with US Airways on Swissair from LAX
to TXL (Berlin) with a plane change in ZRH.
Are there any items I should be concerned
about in booking an award with US Airways on
another carrier. I am aware of Swissair
history. Thanks

I've used US miles for award tickets on Swissair and QF. Very easy to do and, unlike some airlines, the US reservations agent will be able to put you on hold while they check the other airline's inventory. I booked an award on SR last July through US and literally hung up with US and dialed SR to get seat assignments... it could not have been easier.
Good luck and enjoy. FYI, I don't know if the LAX-ZRH flight is an MD-11 or an A-330 but given the choice, the A-330 seems to be the better of the two as far as SR is concerned.

Like geo, I have booked both SR and QF in C class with very little problem ever. The only issue is peak season availability. They issue the tickets on US stock and otherwise, it is seamless. All seating is done with the carrier airline, but they are just as easy as if you booked your ticket there. SR and QF will also issue you a faxed or card stock itinerary to prove that the record is the same as US booked you.
