I heard on the radio this morning that they implemented the new security measures at BWI on Friday. Does anyone know how they are doing the baggage screening?

I flew out of BWI Sunday A.M.--I checked 2 bags and carried on a briefcase, I did not notice any difference from the week before on my flight to LGA. I actually got through security very quickly.

Almost on topic--
How are the lines for security on weekday mornings? How early do I really need to be at BWI for an 8AM flight on US??

The lines for US Air are usually not that long at BWI. If you are there an hour or an hour and 15 minutes before you should be okay. That is unless the new security measures of xraying all checked baggage is in place.

I just flew BWI-CLT and the line at BWI was very long because only 1 of the 3 screening positions was open. The other 2 x-ray machines were broken (and actively being worked on by repair people). Periodically, an agent would come along and pull people out of the line whose flights left in 30 minutes or less.
Everyone was predicting that Friday will be a disaster. I'm flying LAS-PHL-BWI on Friday. Ugh.
