I'm handling this issue for a buddy of mine. He was originally ticketed for a Dec. trip, VIE-ZRH-ATL-CLT-PGV (Greenville, NC), using Div. Miles, with the first 2 segments on SR. However, post 9/11 the ZRH-ATL flight has been axed. They can re-route him through ORD, however now US has no award inventory on the last CLT-PGV segment, so this requires an extra overnight in CLT to catch the next flight the following morning.

I'm aware of capacity controls and the issues of dealing with US & SR combined. This is completely due to 9/11 schedule changes, SR has done their part by putting him on another transatlantic flight, am I wrong in thinking US should do theirs and put him on the last PGV flight?? I'm a PLT over at AA, so I don't have much experience in dealing with US issues or their customer service. Anyone with comments or suggestions?? Please tell me if I have no grounds to be mad.

You're friend should demand a supervisor with USAirways award reservations to take a look at his res. and see that his flights have suffered rescheduling irregularities. If there is an open seat on that flight, it should be his. This is what's wrong with FF partnerships when it involves travel on two different carriers. As long as the entire route was booked by US, then they are responsible for getting him on the closest possible schedule to his original. If he has to do an overnight, they should be responsible for his hotel/meal expenses.
