They have been cutting back on the CTOs for awhile but I think they just added more. Was informed today that the Albany,NY CTO will close on 10/5.

Have you heard of others? I am sure there are more.

This is a shame since they are so helpful to the higher revenue (business) travelers.

I just heard that most CTO's are closing. There will be a few exceptions. I'm sure a list will be put out soon.

Disappointing, since the Tampa ticket office was just a few blocks from my office, though I guess with the convenience of the internet and telephone I rarely used it. Whenever I did, it was empty. Maybe I'll stop by next week to see what is going on, that is, if it is still open then. Fortunately, the airport is only about fifteen minutes from my home and office, so I can just go there for my ticketing needs, or of course I can stop by the ticket counter on one of my trips. This is really bad for people far away from an airport, while a city center ticket office was convenient.

Does anyone know which PHL office will stay open. A friend works in the GSB Building in Bala Cynwyd, and loves the staff there. But I doubt that suburban location would stay open; I guess the only one will be in Center City.

I'm shocked that they would close 'all' CTOs in CLT and PIT. I can see consolidating or unifying them somehow to reduce the overall number, but eliminating them all is surprising. Example - PIT has 2 downtown as of today, which is overkill.

(Before anyone complains, I DO know the relatively low Originating traffic in these cities)

Its all especially disappointing since I had recently begun to use the CTOs more often. From advice posted here, it was definitely worthwhile to develop good relations with the agents there - they even started to recognize me on subsequent visits.

I use the one in Robinson Town Center a few times. It's like dealing with nice ticket agents -- they have less stress than airport agents so they are much nicer. Also free parking and less lines.

They will be sorely missed for me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

And I too am surprised that all clubs would be closing in two of the hubs -- I bet Philly keeps the downtown one. I guess it just proves we're the Rodney Dangerfield's of US's network.. we get no respect http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

BTW, PHL has 5 CTO locations. 3 are located in Center City, 1 in suburban Bala Cynwid and 1 in Wilmington, DE (which for CTO purposes was part of the PHL zone). I'm not sure which one of the three downtown will survive but most likely it will be the one near Liberty Plaza.

Add me to the list of those who mourn these closings. I too was a heavy user of the Wilmington CTO just across the street from my building. I got to know the agents there very well and vice versa. Their special service and personal attention will be surely missed. I already stopped by to wish them my best.

We have a CTO in Wilmington? Where is it, and when does it close? I was planning to go up to PHL to book some tickets in the very near future.

Was at the Bala CTO (PHL) today and they are being furloughed, and will be closing next week. Only remaining CTO will be at 15th and Market (Penn Center location)

Does anyone know how long they were there on City Line?

Is that the one at the Germantown Bank Building?

markbach,

See http://www.usair.com/travelguide/city_ticket_offices.htm#Delaware . It's in the PNC Building downtown. Storefront is on the Tatnall st. side of the building (across from Verizon). I think they're closing by the end of next week. Email me if you need directions.
