I am new to the USAir gold preferred program having been comped recently. In the welcome package were the 2 nice SWUs as I have often read about in the messages here. The gold preferred membership is valid through Feb. 03. Now the question is, will I likely receive 2 more SWUs in the beginning of '02 or not? Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure this topic has been through the wringer here....
Since it was offered early/mid year, it seems that this recent Silver/Gold promotion will keep you until Feb 2002. I suppose that if you make 25,000 tier miles, you will then get another membership package in February that will take you to 2003.
If I recall right, however, there was a Silver and Gold challenge in the late part of last year that would set you up for the entire following year. If air travel continues to decline, they may well offer it again in an effort to keep or gain customers.

Since my comp was processed in July the USAir rep. advised that the gold status would be valid until Feb. '03. Timing in life is everything!
Although I do not need to requalify for next year, I am flying 2 transcons on USAir between now and Sept. 15, to earn the triple miles bonus. This is just too good of a deal to pass up. Add that to the double miles for Gold and I am very happy. My one complaint is that upgrading is not quite as easy as NW/CO -- but that is another topic.

Let's say you've passed the silver/gold challenge and hit both plateaus. Would you get 2 SWUs when you hit silver, another 2 SWUs when you hit gold?
If you got to gold in August or September based on the challenge, I'm sure you'd be gold till 2/03. If you didn't hit silver, gold or higher level by then, would you be dropped to silver for the rest of 2003 or would you lose all status?
