Hi folks,

USAir is having a sweepstakes and the grand prize is a new Mercedes. It's obviously a way to attract new customers to various promotions from US, since you get one entry for being a Dividends Miles member and you can get an additional entry for participating in each of these programs:

Dividend Miles News and Offers
Dividend Miles Partner Offers
Dividend Miles E-Statements
Dividend Miles Visa Card
E-Savers
SideStep
Dividend Miles On-Line Rewards

Good Luck!

The Mercedes is mine! Stay away from it geo and chex!

I understand they can cross reference your DM number to get your entries, but I don't know how that works with SideStep ... where/when do you enter your DM number (or any other info) they can check to enter you?

I can sum up my opinion with a SoundTransit advert:

"Seen gas prices lately?"

Btw, is the E Class diesel?

Yet another North America only competition.

I really get sick of American companies that are quite happy to take anyone's money, but only give prizes to Americans and sometimes Canadians.

Understand your point; I think it has to do with the headaches involved in doing a sweepstakes and complying with the laws of dozens of countries. Not much consolation, but its just easier to limit entrants to the USA.

In response to the earlier question, the E320 is a gas powered 6 that uses premium but actually gets decent, if unspectacular, gas mileage.

Too late, Beckles the Clown. I entered this contest days ago while you were still polishing that big, red nose of yours. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

And, methinks the sale of my little Mazda will cover the taxes too!

I bet one could get more for tickets to the "2001 I-Hope-We-Don't-Keel-Over CSN Reunion Tour/ James Taylor Weekend"

Needless to say, I did enter the contest...

OK, to be fair to all you US FT'ers, if I win I will pick you up in my E320 when you come to SEA and treat you to lunch at Red Mill Burgers or Gordito's Healthy Mexican http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Sorry dknn, I went to school in the Midwest (for you purists that don't think Ohio belongs there, just check a US Airways Zone map http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ), at the Univ of Akron.

I'm one of those people who read fine print a lot in my spare time. In looking at the contest rules, I'd opt for the $40,000 cash. Of course, after taxes that's about $27,000, but it's free money.

Otherwise, if US gives me this beast of a car, I'd have to pay taxes on a $47000 prize - about $16,000!
