I just found out that I have to travel CLT-SFO over Memorial Day w/e. So, braced for a four-figure price tag, I hit Travelocity to find a fare. Up popped a $240 R/T on US!
I decided to call my friendly corporate travel agent, as we have discount arrangements with most of the majors. I gave her the dates and flights, and the best she could do was ~$1800 r/t.
Here's where I'm confused. The travel agent was using Sabre to look for the fare. Travelocity is a Sabre company. One would think that the travel agent would have access to fares at least as good as that Travelocity users enjoy.
She was actually pretty upset about this. She asked me to fax her the confirmation sheet I printed out so she could try to figure out why she couldn't find the fare. I did so and asked her to give me a call when she figures it out.
Any ideas on the board? And please note that she looked for the fare before I hit the "buy" button, so I didn't get the last one before she looked. Also, this was not a "Travelocity Value Fare" or whatever they call it. It actually booked in K class, if that helps.
