What type of plugs can be fit into the US Airbus laptop ports. I need to do some marketing trips and the need for the laptop has arisen...

Em-power adapter. Pretty much the industry standard (except for AA).

Know where I can find one of these gadgets? Who makes them?

Try any computer store - like CompUSA, I believe they have those Targas (sp?) universal products that can be adapted for most laptops.

However, you may want to check with the webite for your laptop's manfacturer - for example, Dell's website has specific adapters (manuafactured by a third party - can't recall the name) for their laptops - may want to go with that.

Also, I seem to recall that Laptop Lane (or AeroZone as I think it's known as now) has adapters for sale (again, the universal kind).

Used the power adapter on the 330 a little while back - worked very well with my Dell.

I have the "Power XTender" - cost about $100 at CompUSA or Microwarehouse(forgot which one). Works in cars and on the US Airbuses(I haven't tried it on other airlines). You will need to definitely specify your make/model so you get the right power adaptor plug for your PC.

ITRADE, the BROOKSTONE stores carry a whole line of them for just about every laptop out there. There's one in DCA; though I bought mine in PIT.

Thanks all for the info. The IS folks were able to dig one up. They've been on loan to other laptops around the firm.

I've used the Targa product. The adaptor is "convertible" from 12v cig lighter plug to the airline power plug. All of the Airbus's have the handrest power jack. It may not always be obvious when other planes have power jacks. I was on a 757 or 767 and the power jack was tucked under the seat, below the hand rest and used the 12v cig lighter plug.

Do the international 767's have power ports?
I thought only the airbuses had them. If so, I'll take the adapter with this time. Thanks!

On US, the only aircraft with power ports ar the 319s, 320s, 321s, and the 330s. No power ports on the 757s or 767s - and doubt they'll be retrofitted unless the merger goes through.

And on an unrelated note - why is it some of the newer 319s have the cutouts for the airphones, but no phone. Does UA use a different system altogether?
