I missed out on my (Silver) welcome kit b/c I moved during the time of mailing these kits (February). I called six weeks ago to report no kit, and was advised that it would be resent. Still no kit.

Anyone else have experience with requesting a kit outside the normal mailing times? How long did you have to wait?

I would like to make plans to use my upgrades (on an upcoming Europe trip) but obviously can't if my u/gs are not in hand.

Yes, you can. Call the Silver Service Center desk and explain your situation. I had the same problem; the kit never showed and I wanted to use my systemwides. I called the Gold desk and they "issued the certs" electronically. When my paper certs showed (after a re-send by the Gold Desk) I sent them back in as required.

Thanks, Front Row. I'll use your experience as ammo if I run into any resistance at my lowly Silver status.

Any suggestions on getting the biggest (upgrade) bang for my buck? I get two Systemwide upgrades, right? These I could use to upgrade an entire itinerary to Europe and back?

I would say Europe or far west coast - SAN, LAX, SFO.

Got it! Two North American U/Gs, two systemwide U/Gs, a luggage tag and a card.

When I made Prem Ex (over 55,000 miles last year) with United, I got nothing but the four 500 mile upgrade certs for each 10,000 miles of flying (awarded only AFTER I hit Premier at 25,000 miles), so I got only three sets.

If I didn't live in Chicago, I'd use US more often.
