Does anyone know whether it is possible to book an open jaw flight using a voucher provided as compensation for getting bumped?
Tried that, doesn't work. Next time I will be sure to ask for a $$ voucher, because almost all my personal trips are open jaw.
I passed on a bump chance back in March since they were offering the wonderful RT voucher. I asked about getting a dollar amount - "What? why? Uh, I think theres a way to do that...I'll put you as a backup incase we don't get enough volunteers". I was traveling via Priceline, a 2pm flight to PIT needed 5 volunteers. I was chatting with the girl next to me, on the way out she was not to happy about the flight in general - I mentioned I was using Priceline and didn't care, and saying that stirred up about half a dozen more people using PL also.
The problem with vouchers is that they are capacity controlled the same as a 25,000 domestic travel award, including the blackouts. There was a time that they were treated like cash and could be used for ANY open coach seat on a domestic flight. Nice way to treat customers who are doing the airline a favor.
