View Full Version : Strategies for maximizing miles now in case the merger goes thru

With the merger looking more likely now and changes starting to be made, I am looking for strategies to maximize combined miles.

What opportunities exist now for miles (probably bonuses) but would go away after a merger? The idea would be to take advantage of the duplication now to earn miles from both sides - since that opportunity would not exist post-merger.
My initial thoughts are 1) bonus for electonic statements 2) credit card sign up bonus.

What else exits?

If you don't have MCI, switch to it and rack up a bonus. If UA doesn't having a dining program, sign up for the US dining program and eat out a LOT. Be sure to get your statement electronically - then ask to switch back to paper. If you've never booked a ticket via usaiways.com, be sure to do it at least once. And, be sure to call the promotional 800 number and sign up for every promotional number mentioned in another thread.
