This morning I received a mailing from US Airways Dividend Miles. I'm not a member, and I've never flown US Airways, but this was apparently sent to European Marriott Rewards members:

Dear Conrad,

To celebrate our expanded transatlantic service, we're giving Marriott Rewards members a special opportunity. When you purchase a full-fare transatlantic roundtrip ticket on US Airways in either First Class or Envoy Class, you could earn up to 40,000 bonus Dividend Miles - enough for a free Economy Class ticket to North America. Earn 20,000 bonus Dividend Miles when you purchase a full-fare Economy Class ticket, or 7,500 bonus Dividend Miles for a discounted Economy Class ticket.

... blah blah US Airways is wonderful....

... blah blah New A330-300s are marvellous ....

... blah blah Valid between 15th October 2000 and 31 March 2001 ...

P.S. In order to receove your bonus miles, you must register for this promotion before you depart. You can register now ot 0800-783-5556. Please mention Bonus Request Number 2252 when you call.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find anything when I did a search. The 0800 number will be the UK only number.

Conrad.

I'd be curious to see the full mail annoucement. Your sibjet says "...roundtrips from Europe", but there is nothing in the text you include to indicate that. Also, I'd assume you might be able to use the same promo code through a US registration number.

I just used that bonus code in the US through the phone system. No problem, it took it.

The letter and the glossy brochure enclosed did not say anything about it having to originate in Europe - I put that in the subject because it seemed to be targeted at European members (certainly mine was on UK letterhead) - I guess you'll need to call your local office to see if it's valid where you are. The brochure does specifically mention a 4,000 mile first-flight activation bonus for residents of Europe too.

Just got the 7.500 miles posted to my account after returning from a trip from FRA to the US. Thanks Conrad UK for the info because I would not have known otherwise because it is not listed on the US webside at all under there bonusses. Just for point of information is it available from the US to europe as well? Has anybody received it yet?
Would be of use for my girlfriend and all I have seen published the other way around were bonusses for full fare and envoy tickets.
Thanks

The previous thread that discussed this is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum51/HTML/000528.html

In which the offer was mailed to U.S. residents for flights TO Europe, so it obviously works in both directions (the bonus code is also the same).
Does anyone know if I need to have/create a MR account to take advantage of this?

does anyone know....
I've got an Envoy seat (LGW-PHL-LGW) next week, booked under fare code C..will this qualify for the 40,000 bonus miles??
the mailing said F and J class fares...is C a J class fare?
or have I paid £3,000 for no bonus miles when I could have flied in Y for £1,000 and received 20,000 bonus miles....that would be disappointing!!

I called the GP service centre about this promo before my outbound PHL-FRA leg. The agent told me it was for residents of certain European countries and Germany was excluded so it seems eurousair was lucky?

Maybe I should change my address to Europe!

Just for information my sweetheart put it in for a flight from the US to Germany and got the 7.500 miles bonus as well.
To tell a secret. I am under the empiric impression that if you get hold of an promotion code which was not published directly to you or not meant for you and you are able to put it into the computer system via the phone track you get the bonus!!!!!!! My experience is that no one is checking on that. I even suspect that wa possible for silver or gold challenge for people who were otherwise excluded. Just guessing but some experiences show into that direction the computer can be generous as well sometimes more than people.

Got the European "passport" bonus but I did change my address to a U.K. one (now to change it back, which isn't too easy). Picked up 13,500 miles in all (booking, Corp. dividends and european) which is more than the Q-miles earned!
