I've not seen a perfectly direct answer to this question though I've searched the US Airways forum through and through.
So, does anyone have the experience of having received a 50% mileage bonus for the flight during which you made Silver Preferred status (the theory being that you achieved the status while in the air so therefore the whole flight qualifies for bonus miles)? On the other hand, has anyone experienced the opposite--i.e. where bonus miles were specifically not credited for the flight during which you attained your Silver status?
The Silver elite rep stated that the bonus miles do not begin to accrue until the flight after the one during which status was attained. But I'd sure be interested in evidence to the contrary.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.

I broke 25k and into Silver territory mid PIT-PHL and got my 250 bonus miles for that segment.

Yes, you get the bonus miles for the segment. I got them when I was doing a FLL-BWI Metrojet flight.

My experience in the past is the same.... I got the Preferred bonus for the flight that carried me across the threshhold...

I got the 50% bonus (about 1700 miles) for the PHL-LGW on which I made silver (in fact, after the flight, I was just 112 miles "over the top").

chexfan, ITRADE, geo1004, & yonatan:
My thanks to each of you for posting your answer to my query. And each of you had the answer I was hoping for. But, alas, I've tried now with three different Silver elite reps (I did recently attain that level) and they all insist that the flight during which status is attained does not qualify for the bonus.
I'm guessing here, but they've either changed their policy (each rep said this was not the case) or they had some sort of computer glitch that worked in your favor (but, whimper, not mine) which has since been fixed.
So I'm giving up this quest now. I'm definitely looking forward to my Silver credentials arriving sometime soon as I intend to make good use of the upgrades contained therein (especially the two systemwides).
Thanks again for posting your responses.

FWIW, my friend made SP under the targeted challenge today. I saw the flights posted and then checked a few hours later to see she had made SP. She didn't get the 50% bonus on the qualifying flight (or it hasn't been added so far).
OTH, I did get the 50% bonus for my SP qualifying flight in April.

So this is interesting. I got my bonus for the flight that I broke 25K on.
So here's the question (that was already asked): Did we, who got bonus earlier, luck out OR are these new people getting ripped off?

Just trying to make some logic out of this.
terenz: Your post makes sense as I hadn't considered the possibility that making Silver by challenge would be different (with respect to receiving a bonus for the final qualiying flight) than making Silver the hard way. Like your friend I qualified for Silver via challenge. So perhaps that's the difference. Maybe, if you make status by challenge, your final qualifying flight doesn't get the bonus while, if you make status the regular way, it does.
But note that none of the three Silver reps with whom I spoke said there was this sort of difference, and they all knew I'd qualified via challenge. All three said there was no such "final qualifying flight" bonus given no matter how status was attained.

Added note here to support TravelDave's thought, my brother broke into silver (with 25k actual miles flown) with a ATL-PIT holiday flight. He checked his DM account online this morning and had the 50% bonus for the flight that put him over.
