How much time should I have for connections
at CDG from a US flight (7:45am from PIT)?
I'll be connecting to another Terminal 1
airline probably Lufthansa or Iberia.
I've assumed 2 hours but then I'll miss the
early flights ;-(

Thanks!

The official website for Roissy Charles De Gaulle can be found at http://www.adp.fr/webadp/a_cont01_an.nsf/$$Affich?ReadForm&cle=X500

If both the inbound and outbound aircraft are at the same terminal and you can get your luggage checked through to your final destination then I would say a 60 minute connection is ok.

If you don not manage to get your luggage through checked you will have to go through customs and then make your way to the correct sattelite. This is because of the design of the building and the maze of escalators.

You should not have a problem getting your luggage checked through but depending which satellite you are coming in on and leaving out of you may have to clear through passport control due to the design of terminal one. The terminal is set up with six satellites off of the central hub and when you come in to the central hub from the satellite you will go through passport control and then head to the other domestic satellite. Some of the satellites are set up with passport control due to the arrival of international flights and others are for inter Europe flights. Either way I would think you are safe with an hour to 1 1/2

If you have baggage checked all the way through and don't have to claim (not sure if this is possible) and do not have to check in at counter - should be as little at 30 - 45 minutes.

Biggest problems: Waiting 15+ min for luggage, waiting to get "checked-in" at the ticket counter (which can be 20 min. unless you are Elite).

Customs is usually no problem unless you are one of the very few ( 1 in 200??) that get pulled over for a check.

I would suggest 75 minutes gap to be safe. Of course, delays (or early arrival) may be the real factor, but cannot plan for that.
