Looking at the full pager in today's paper, which recognizes the strong customer loyalty of a lot of us, United seeks to paint a picture of why a merger will be so beneficial to us. Among other things, it cites the convenience of a new West Palm to Copenhagen service, which , no doubt, many of us have been clamoring for. They are obviously responding to concerns expressed by current US customers about the proposed union. Don't know about the rest of you, but I am a customer because I like the service and benefits of a smaller organization. The employees are very nice, the frequent flyer program is more than fair, and in general, you don't get lost in a sea of bureacracy. As a non hub flyer, I can put 100k miles on a lot of carriers. I, like lots of you, have opted to patronize a smaller company, with a more personal touch. So to the geniuses at UA, I offer this reminder.....it's the service, stupid! If I want to go to Copenhagen, I'll fly SAS. Besides, the food's better.

I'll sum it up in a word: Word. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Bigger is NOT always better.

dg1,
Can't agree with you more..... United sucks.. plain and simple..... I'll fly US as long as it's US.... but no longer. I'm actually surprised that UA is still running the ads.... IMHO, the merger is dead.

BTW... registered for CAL FF program today. I'll make connections in EWR before I fly UA.

Speaking of that, personally I've gotten myself to AA Platinum status through a challenge late this year so if the merger does go through at least I'll have some status on American since all my business will go to them.

No kidding. I fly US because I won't fly UA. Maybe they could put that fact into their next full page ad..... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

My plan is to ask CO to comp me to the level comparable to CHPR after my December statement. Maybe by then or shortly thereafter, we'll know the direction this fiasco is going to take. If the deal is completed, then I'm already set with CO.

I'll probably do that too, I'm sure much to the chagrin of CO fliers, since they are the only airline it seems that comps to top tier.

Your post belongs on a full-page ad alongside every major media publication in which news of another merger, let alone that United ad, appears.

Your remarks speak to the dilution of the very soul of business as a result of rampant consolidation by ivory-tower corporate goons.
