Regarding the 5,000-mile bonus for first-time users of USAirways’ website: I thought the group would be interested in knowing how US defines “first-time user.”
I discovered that passengers become users as soon as their Dividend number is “included in another reservation.”
For example, if you booked a reservation under your number and included your spouse and two kids, everybody would have “used” the site even though you’re the only one who signed in.
This is why spouses and kids get the normal 1,000-mile bonus even if the reservation is booked under only one person’s Dividend number.
So the only way you can be a first-time user is if you Dividend number has never been included on a reservation booked through the Web site.

This is interesting. What happens if someone else (a brand new user to the US Air program) books on-line and includes me (a long time on-line user) in the reservation? Will the new user get the bonus since it is his/her first time booking on-line? I sure hope so!

I booked first time on usairways.com last December and got both the new user bonus and the ex-Priority-Travelworks-user bonus (totaled 10K). Booked a US shuttle flight last month with my child. I got a the 1,000 repeat user bonus booking, she got 5,000 (her first on-line booking).

I emailed US a few months ago to ask if I used their web site to book 3 on the same web session, traveling together and it was all our first time using the web - would we all get the 5K bonus. The answer was YES.

Thanks for the responses.
Interesting note I just discovered: You are only considered to have used USAirways.com if you booked a trip after Dec. 18, 1999. They aren't including trips booked through PersonalTravelworks.

I booked for me and my wife in one online-session. We BOTH got the 5,000 miles (after I asked US AIRWAYS by E-mail).

To USAFAN:
Yes, you and your wife will get the 5,000-mile bonus the first time you book.
When I said "normal 1,000-mile bonus" I meant the standard bonus you receive after the first time booking.

Thanks.
For you (spouse and 2 kids) a household program like British Airways' would be nice.

Thanks for the info, qed!!! I was worried that I wouldn't get the 1000 miles and my girlfriend, a first time on-line booker, wouldn't get the 5000 miles, for a recent reservation we made. The flights were this past weekend so I haven't seen any bonuses yet. Hopefully this won't be a problem.
