Does anyone still use the software Personal Travel Works? I can't find my old copy, and no one at USAirways seems to know what I'm talking about. The reason I'm looking for it, is to check seat maps (and availibility) on an upcoming flight. Does anyone still have this software, or a way to check swating availibility in all classes. (I know Travelocity lets you check seating availibility, but only 1 class at a time, and its SLOW!) Thanks.
USAir did away with this feature in Oct/Nov 99. It was a great tool. The only explanation I got was that they wanted people to use the website booking feature. I suppose too many of us were using the system to check seat maps and other airlines' flights. Guess it was a revenue loser.

If i were to get my hands on the actual software would it still work? Or did they take down the access numbers for it, too?
No, it doesn't work anymore. I still have the software. There's nothing to connect to anymore- they've eliminated the phone connections. I haven't found any service that compares. United's on-line service is pretty good, but only for UA. It uses ITN and shows availability by inventory code (FCYHBSetc). American's on-line service is pretty good too, shows other airlines' flights, but nowhere near as much info as the old priority travel works.

PTW was the best software out there.
An unmatched tool to check seat inventorys and therefore calculating your chances of getting upgraded.
It is unbelievable that there was only limited protest of us FT when they took it away.
A real shame especially with the new internet side being really bad. Ever tried to book international travel on USAirways?
Very often they do not even show you a connection on US and all other airlines instead even if there is a competitive and available US flight!!!! Other internet sides let me book a CMH-PHL-FRA trip with no problem whereas US webside puts you on anything from AA to Lufthansa!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess they do not even know this problem and how they get played by sabre!!!
Really bizarre!

Priority Travel Works was awesome. I have never seen any software come close. It was based on the apollo reservation system and was discontinued when US switched over to Sabre. The current Personal Travel Works on the website has a few bugs that really need to be worked out. As eurousair has pointed out, the system will often not show all the flight options available, particularly if there is a connection of more than an hour. I always print off the timetable for the route I want and then use the "multiple destination" feature to build the itinerary I want. Nine times out of ten, I'll get what I need at a fair price.

Unfortunately, this was discontinued last year. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif It was the single best travel search engine, IMHO. It showed tons of possibilites and fare shopper-options for all airlines, and on US Airways flights, you could see which flights offered A4 fares. You could see seat maps for almost every airline, which helped in judging upgrade chances. And, it was faster than any web based site that I've ever tried.
It's all a memory now.
