View Full Version : Warning For Chairman's Preferred Members

Effective the beginning of March the company made a substantial change in the upgrade policy. Up until now, Chairman's Preferred members had access to upgrade seats WITHOUT restriction, regardless of fare paid. Callers are now learning that only a few seats on each flite are being made available for this purpose. In the case of transcontinental flites, in some cases there are no seats available for upgrade at the start of the 7 day window. While there is a reference to this in the new rules booklet, it is buried. The company has the right to sell all the first class seats it can, but when you hold that carrot out to people willing to fly over a 100,000 miles a year, these kinds of draconian restrictions are a breach of the spirit of the program. If CP's can't get seats, what does that say about the other 2 tier levels. For a marketing program to work, it has to deliver. This stinks.

geo1004....if you check the schedules online for the next several months you will note Airbus 319's being substituted for 757's on a number of transcon routes. each time this happens there is a loss of 12 first class seats.

That, unfortunately, would explain a lot. I'll be attempting some upgrades in the next week or so...I'll let you know what happens. All my flights, however, are east coast routes with the exception of a trip to Houston. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
