View Full Version : USAir goes overboard for weather delays

This week I flew USAir connecting in PIT, and was delayed due to weather. Without asking, and really not expecting it, the ground crew comp'd a hotel room and meals.

Baggage was delayed two days in the midwest, but so was UA and NW. Without complaining, US wrote me a check for over $100 in "necessities" purchased due to delayed baggage, as well as providing $100 flight coupon, and 1,000 miles in Dividend Miles account.

US Air staff was always helpful, although the 800 number for baggage info was never answered.

This is in stark contrast to my frequent flights on UA. United Express flights delayed are always blamed on weather, and I rarely get a hotel room, and sometimes get an upgrade certificate. UA tends to blame their United Express contract carriers for too much, and my experience with Air Wisconsin is that they are frequently late, and always blame air traffic or weather and never pay for a room.

It was just refreshing to see US give a little extra, in places they were not obligated to accommodate.
