That is for max one night stay. And technically you are not on Antarctia, just an island close by.

Aurora travel has Antarctica expeditions where you can fly one way (with DAP chartered) http://www.auroraexpeditions.com.au

Antarctica XXI has expeditions where you fly both ways (again with DAP chartered) http://antarcticaxxi.com/

I did some research and have captured a spreadsheet with (all) operators for 2012/13 season in case someone is interested

Best regards

Ships are USD 7000 and up. Again I have a spreadsheet of all operators I know of for 2012/13 season. And I am going this year!

Great! I cannot go this year for sure, maybe next one. Have you found any good promotion or companion rebate or something?

I have always wanted to fly to Antarctica proper, but that does not seem possible according to this post on another travel website.

I guess the Chilean Frei Antarctic Station may be a strange exception according to some links here, but you would need to be part of a package tour.

Quark has $5k+ if you're willing to share. I'm hoping to go Feb. 2014 if the flights work out for me to get back to work in time!

I went with our spiritual teacher and a group of 21 persons on Quark expeditions "Ocean Diamond" ship from 29 Dec 2013 to 7 Jan 2014. The ship was cosy and comfortable. We stayed on the 7th deck where room with balconies are situated. The best thing of this floor was the observatory. It was like having a large library attached to your room and world's most scintillating views around. The hotel crew were just awesome. The expedition crew headed by Shane Evoy did a splendid job. We were kept busy and entertained with various talks and shows. Wifi is very expensive. US$100 for 100 MB of data. Somehow the outgoing data was always three times that of incoming data.
Over all a beautiful experience. Superb Quark

We were talked out of flying because of the possibility of cancellations and delays. If you have lots of flexibility, this might be a great option, but if operating on a tight schedule,
be sure to take out insurance and have the chance that your stay in Antarctica might be shortened.
