Unions pushing for quick resolve to Ansett settlement
The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) has asked all parties involved in the sale of Ansett to bring a quick end to the commercial negotiations delaying a final settlement.
ACTU secretary Greg Combet says the unions are still backing the Fox-Lew Tesna syndicate, despite revelations there may be fewer jobs for Ansett staff than originally promised.
Mr Combet says the livelihoods of thousands of people are at stake.
"While they're chiselling at each other in these commercial negotiations for a bit of money here and a bit of money there, it's far more desirable that good will resolves the negotiations so that we can get back to work," he said.
