Thanks! According to the RailServe link it's good until May 5, but you must book by phone only by March 31.

Kids Ride Free Auto-Train Promo

If I remember correctly, for the last few years Amtrak has run a promo where kids ride free on the auto-train. CAn anyone remember approx when that offer usually comes out?
Thanks.

Companion Vouchers

I just finished using a couple vouchers I had with an expiration date of Feb 28, 2009. Are there any new ones out there with a later expiration date, perhaps into 2010? Thanks in advance

Last year the code came out in April and was valid for travel June 1 through September 30.

You mean the ones that ship with Select and Select Plus member kits? These started arriving about a week ago. Expiration dates on the companion vouchers (and upgrade vouchers) are 2/28/2010.

New Cascades discount: 25% off companion, FRI/SAT/SUN through April 26

Details here:

http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/Conten...b_2&WT.mc_r=90

The opening paragraph references Portland, but the T&C do not specify that travel to Portland is necessary to qualify for the discount. A dummy booking confirms this. Discount seems to apply automatically when your booking qualifies...no code needed.

Talking Spring Promotion

I noticed this when I logged in to check postings. I registered right away, of course.

Thanks for registering for our Spring Promotion. Earn double Amtrak Guest RewardsŪ points on each of your first four AmtrakŪ train trips and triple points for your fifth trip and beyond, March 16 through May 8, 2009. Plus, earn quadruple points for any trip taken on National Train Day, Saturday, May 9, 2009. Reservations for qualifying trips must be made between March 16, 2009 and May 9, 2009 for travel taken between March 16, 2009 and May 9, 2009.

I got no email beforehand, and see no mention of it before login, so not sure if it's targeted or not. Out of an abundance of caution, I'm therefore not including the promo code here. I expect it's not targeted, because I'm never among those targeted for targeted doubling and tripling promotions, because I could extract tremendous benefit therefrom.

Edit: Promo code is 31609 (see the next post in this thread)

I got this one too. It's viewable even when not logged in, so I think it's safe to post the link:

Do the actual reservations need to be made after March 16 to be eligible for the double points? Or are reservations made previously (in January, for example) for travel during the promotion period still eligible?

Thanks.

And here I was thinking I'd switch from accumulating to spending points once B3G1 ends... Ah well, they're not going anywhere.

You're absolutely right---my apologies; I completely missed that.

Aha! So it's not commemorating the anniversary of the Golden Spike, as they claimed last year...it's actually commemorating the Amtrak marketing department's ability to find the second Saturday in May on a calendar.

I wonder if that's the only National Train Day promotion. Quadruple points is nice but last year's B1G1 was nicer.
