Well, of course the thread you are currently reading is probably the best comprehensive resource out there for finding Amtrak codes!

Also, try the promos/specials page of Amtrak's website.
Or the 6x per year Amtrak "Arrive" magazine which is distributed on Amtrak Northeast trains (and possibly other trains?)
In addition, occasionally I have seen codes in AAA mailings that I receive as a member. Nothing good from them lately.

There is a double-point promotion for Acela and/or Metroliner travel between 09/12/05 and 12/31/05. Registration is required. It appears the double/triple point promo is happening very frequently, ie. like almost year round. Whenever one ends, another one is offered.

I don't think V547 is working for New York anymore.

Instead use V754
50% off Amtrak companion ticket with purchase of one regular (full) adult, senior/disabled discounted rail fare ticket (to/from New York)
Valid for sale August 29, 2005 through December 11, 2005.
Good for travel September 1, 2005 through December 14, 2005.
Travel good on Regional service. Not valid on Metroliner or Acela service.
Reservations must be made at least three days prior to travel. Subject to availability.
The following blackout dates apply: September 2-5, 2005 and November 22-29, 2005.

The V648 free companion code works on this route. I wish the mod could please update the list with the info I had previously posted:

I can't get V754 to work, but there's another 50% companion discount:

Use Promotion Code V707

* 50% off companion fare for Empire Service Trains.
* Valid for travel through March 31, 2006.
* Travel thru NY state and to Montreal and Rutland VT.
* Three day advance reservation required.

Full T&C's

H459 code

Can we use H459 code for two Amtrak tickets although we are not high school students? Do they check after we get the tickets?

Thanks!

This is what's printed on my tickets (for the conductor to see):

"One-Way Low Season Special Fare - No Stopovers, Valid Photo ID Required/Qualf (or Compn for the "free" ticket)
No Travel 27May thru 5Sep, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28Nov, 23, 24, 26, 27, 30, 31Dec05, 1, 2Jan06
Discount/Rfnd Fee May Apply, No Rfnd After 1st Tvl/Blkouts Aply"

Quite honestly, if you abide by the blackout dates above, no conductor will ever question you about your use of the discount code, since no mention of it appears on the ticket itself.

However, ticket agents at staffed stations will likely question you (after looking up the discount code in their reservations computer) if you pick up the tickets in person. You can avoid the ticket agent if you reserve online and pick up your tickets at the blue Quik-Trak machine or have them mailed to you.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for providing this forum!!

AFAIK, V626 works on ALL fare. Regional usually has two fare structure(cheaper one for period you very mentioned and more expensive one for 'peak' - weekend etc.) and that restriction is for the fare you bought, not for V626.

BTW, anybody get new code? September has almost gone...

Welcome to FT, gloabal_navigator!
