what has happened to advance week end fares on Amtrak?

Habe others notices a minimum of a 200% increase , if not 300% irrrgardless if it philly , baltimore or washington?

So it can can't be a function of a "high demand week end " or special event in a given city.

Have others experienced this? If so what gives?

Also the point redemption value seems to have gotten a "little" better. Maybe because fare are so high.

At least three cents on non acela

Are you seeing unusually high fares for a variety of dates? High demand in one city will likely influence fares along the whole corridor - for example, a big event in philly will also make fares from DC to Baltimore or New York more expensive since its the same seats on the same trains.

I have not noticed a fare increase but rather, the absence of Saver fares on Friday afternoons. I take a southbound train from NYP every Friday afternoon, nine months of the year. Beginning in maybe February of 2017, Friday midday and later Saver fares disappeared completely and there are now just Value and up. I used to be able to purchase a couple of months in advance and I'd be almost guaranteed a Saver fare. It no longer exists, which has put a big dent in my budget. I have begun to use points for a lot of these trips, which means I probably won't make Select+ for next year.
